Kentucky Football Climbs to No. 9 After Vanderbilt Victory |
Wildcats enter bye week at 7-1 with major November games ahead |

The Kentucky Wildcats have returned to the Associated Press top 10 after defeating Vanderbilt 34-17 on Saturday.
Kentucky moved from No. 12 to No. 9 in the latest rankings, bringing its record to 7-1 overall and 5-1 in Southeastern Conference play.
The jump gives Lexington football fans plenty to discuss during the team's upcoming bye week.
Kentucky trailed Vanderbilt 10-0 early before the offense found its rhythm and the defense helped swing the game.
Quarterback Kenny Minchey completed 19 of 26 passes for 203 yards and a touchdown as the Wildcats pulled away.
The defense held Vanderbilt to only 15 rushing yards, and two turnovers provided momentum in the second half.
The Wildcats have not been this high in the rankings this late in a season since their memorable 1977 campaign.
The remaining SEC schedule still presents significant challenges, beginning with a November 7 road game against Tennessee.
Home dates with Florida and a trip to Missouri follow before the annual rivalry game with Louisville.
Kentucky is also positioned to attract attention when the first in-season College Football Playoff ranking arrives November 3.
The top-10 ranking is a milestone, not a guarantee of postseason placement.
For now, the Wildcats have a week to recover and prepare for the final stretch. |
